The legacy of Barbara Jordan: four speeches. 1996. 1 videocassette (75 min.). Barbara Jordan was the first black woman elected to the House of Representatives from the South. She served three terms in that office, and became known for her speeches. She was an attorney and later an educator in Houston, Texas. VHS 3824

President Clinton at American University, September 9, 1997. 1997. 1 videocassette (ca. 40 min.). President Clinton briefly looks at the accomplishments in his presidency to date and then looks ahead to what he hopes to accomplish in conjunction with Congress in the next three months. Issues he touches on include: equal access to education, Pell Grants, setting national educational standards, ensuring the survival of Social Security and Medicare, improving trade, strengthening the American family, environmental issues, improving government efficiency, building strong relationships with other countries of the world and building a strong and unified America. President Clinton news conference. 1996. 1 videocassette (67 min.). President Clinton opens the news conference with an announcement of an international trade agreement on information technology. He introduces new appointments for his second term: William Daley as Secretary of Commerce, Bill Richardson as Ambassador to the UN, and Gene Sperling as Chairman of the National Economic Council. He also announces the retention of Janet Reno, Robert Rubin, Donna Shalala and Carol Browner as cabinet-level officials. Following brief statements by the new appointees, the President answers questions about his appointments and other matters relevant to his second term. VHS 4298

President Clinton's speech at the American University Convocation. 1993. 1 videocassette (ca. 60 min.). President Clinton, in a speech delivered at a convocation in honor of American University's centennial celebration, talks about the imperative of American leadership in the face of global change - focusing on "the economic leadership [that must be exerted] at home and abroad as a new global economy unfolds ... ." Triumph des Willens = The triumph of the will. 1935. 1 videocassette (110 min.) or 1 videodisc (120 min.). A film commissioned by Adolph Hitler as an official record of the Nuremberg Nazi Party rally of 1934 that was designed both to introduce the new German leaders to the nation and impress foreign audiences. Considered a classic in movie making, editing techniques, and in motivational propaganda, this film shows troops of Hitler youth at play, ranks of laborers, parades of storm troopers, close-ups of Hitler, and an exaltation of Nazi unity in Germany. It also features policy speeches by Goebbels, Goering, Streicher, Himmler, and Hess. VHS 19, DVD 351
