    Hosted by the Summer Institute of Linguistics, this site tries to bring together the best information available on languages of the world. It serves as a catalogue of more than 6,700 languages spoken in 228 countries. It has links to a language name index, to languages of special interest, to the top 100 languages, to maps and other geographic areas.
  • iLoveLanguages
    This site covers a wide-range of language-related Internet sources including language instruction, literature, and linguistics.
  • Language, Learning and Technology
    This site has the online version of the journal Language, Learning and Technology, a refereed journal for second and foreign language educators.
  • Language Links: A New World of Understanding
    This site, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has links to a variety of language sites.
  • Online Text Collections in Western European Literature
    This page lists Internet sites for literary texts in Western European languages other than English.
  • The Rosetta Project
    This site attempts to serve as a "contemporary version of the Rosetta Stone." It contains a database with descriptions, texts, analytic materials and audio files for 1,000 languages.
  • Voice of the Shuttle: Literatures Other than English
    This site has links to literature sites for many languages.
  • Xlation.com - More Than Words
    This site hosts a collection of tools for translation professionals. This site has a variety of features including a link to Dictionaries, Glossaries and Word Lists, and Grammar and Idioms sections. Users will also find links to a range of other reference materials. It features approximately 1,600 glossaries and more than 60 online grammars. Links also include resources on Computer Assisted and Machine Translation.

  • The Linguist List
    Sponsored by Eastern Michigan and Wayne State Universities, this site has links a variety of linguistic topics including pedagogy, research and publications in the field.
  • Linguistics Resources: Topical Listing
    A topically organized list of resources elsewhere on the Internet that may be of interest to the linguist.
  • SIL International
    The site was created to work with language communities worldwide to facilitate language-based development through research, translation, and literacy.
