How to Get an Article if You Have the Citation
Step 1: Find an electronic copy
Step 2: Find in AU's library
Step 3: Order from WRLC Library
Step 4: Order from other library
Step 1: See if you can get an electronic copy of the article.
- Click
HERE to Find e-Journals
- Type in the beginning of the journal title (not the article title)
- If AU has the correct years, click on the link to the journal and search for your article

Step 2: See if AU library subscribes to the journal in print.
- Click HERE to go to the ALADIN Catalog
- Search for the title of the journal (not the title of the article)
- If AU owns the journal, click on the record to see the years and to see where the journal is located
- If AU does not own the journal, but another school does, go to Step 3

Step 3: Requesting a copy of the article from another WRLC library.
- If another school owns the correct year of the journal and AU doesn't, click on the record to go into it
- From inside the record, click on the button that says "Request" at the top
- If you are not already logged in, enter your family name, AU ID number and AU as the school
- On the next screen, enter all the citation information (title, author, volume, issue, date, page numbers)
- Enter a date in the "not needed after" field
- Re-enter your AU ID number and press "submit"
- The article will be emailed to you
- If the owning library is unable to process your request and you still want the item, reply to the email that informs you of this.

Step 4: Request an article from outside of the WRLC Libraries.
- If
the article you want is at American University's Law Library
or Wesley Seminary, Click
HERE and fill out the form
- For
all others, Click
HERE to go to the Interlibrary Loan System
- Enter
your AU ID number and your last name
- On
the next screen, enter all the citation information (title,
author, volume, issue, date, page numbers)
- If
you cannot log into the system, please call Interlibrary
