Classroom Reservation Policy

Computing lab reservation requests are accepted three months before the beginning of a semester or summer session. Faculty who request use of a computing lab facility for an entire semester may be asked to share time slots with other faculty if scheduling requests exceed room availability.

Computing lab facilities managed by the University Library on behalf of specific academic units or departments are available for priority reservations only to faculty in those schools or departments until two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester, or of the desired date, whichever is later. Please refer to the table below to view reservation scheduling priorities.

Two weeks before the beginning of semester or desired reservation date, facilities not scheduled during the priority reservations period will be available to all faculty under a general or "open" reservations policy. The open reservations period expires three calendar days before the day of classes; that is, no lab may be reserved within three calendar days of the desired date of use. Please refer to the table below to view reservation scheduling deadlines.

There are no exceptions to the three-day blackout period for lab reservations. The blackout period allows students to plan use of lab facilities to complete assignments. It is especially important for part-time graduate student who may be juggling careers, families, and considerable travel demands, yet who need access to specialized programs available only in university lab facilities.

Requests for classroom reservations should conform to University time periods. Regular AU courses scheduled by the Registrar's Office will be limited to reserving classrooms for no more than two consecutive class periods for each one hour and fifteen minute session.

Scheduling preference in classrooms will be given to classes that have hands-on computing lessons for students. Faculty who need only access to the internet and/or projection capabilities are asked request their teaching unit to work with the office of the registrar to seek use of classrooms equipped for these purposes, and to use a laptop obtained through their teaching unit or through a temporary loan from the Center for Teaching Excellence.

Reservation requests may be submitted online through the Classroom Reservation Request Form. Select "Make classroom reservation" and log in using your EagleNet ID and internet password. Reservation requests may also be made by email to the Help Desk.

A weekly schedule of classes will be posted outside each classroom.

Custom Software / Data Files Installation Policy

For faculty members who need specialized course-related software installed on classroom workstations, it is necessary to complete the following:

  • Submit an e-mail to the University Librarian describing the software package to be installed, the duration of the installation and the number of workstations on which to install the software.

  • Following the approval from the University Librarian, contact the Anderson Computing Complex and supply the software installation disk(s) or CD(s), detailed installation instructions, along with the original licensing agreement from the manufacturer.

Software will be uninstalled at the completion of the semester unless another agreement has been made for it to remain longer.
