Associate Borrowing Program

The Associate Borrowing Program enables persons not affiliated with the American University or the WRLC to borrow from the University Library's general collection. Associate Borrowers are entitled to access the library's online catalog, as well as in-house use of periodicals, archives, media, newspaper, and microform titles. Associate Borrowers may also use the Music Library, located in the Kreeger Building.

Associate Borrowers can search the online catalog of the WRLC libraries through the ALADIN system via the World Wide Web at www.aladin.wrlc.org. ALADIN's electronic databases may be used on campus, but off-site access is not available. Associate Borrowers do not have Interlibrary Loan privileges at American University. They are referred to their local public libraries.

Group Associate Borrowing

Commercial nonprofit and governmental organizations can purchase group borrowing privileges for their members or employees. Membership includes one card, but additional cards may be purchased. Cards are nontransferable.

The Group Application Form can be downloaded in .pdf format. You will need Adobe Acrobat 4.05C or 5.0 in order to read the form. Forms should be filled out and returned to the Circulation Desk.

Individual Associate Borrowing

Associate Borrowing privileges are also available for individual researchers.

Purchasing Associate Borrower Cards

Individuals and organizations interested in purchasing Associate Borrowing privileges may do so at the circulation desk located on the first floor of the library. Payment is due at the time of purchase and potential borrowers must complete a borrowing application.

Associate Borrowing Program Fees:

Individual Associate Borrower Card	1 year membership, $300.00
	3 month membership, $100.00
Group Associate Borrower Card
Commercial Organizations	1 year membership, $1000.00
	($200.00 each additional card)
	3 month membership, $400.00
	($100.00 each additional card)
Nonprofit and governmental organizations	1 year membership, $500.00
(must be registered with the IRS)	($100.00 each additional card)
	3 month membership, $200.00
	($50.00 each additional card)
