Music Library Digital Reserves Policy

Streaming audio reserves is made available for AU classes (including applied music courses) requiring library audio reserves. Access is provided through Blackboard Learning System to registered students only. All audio items must be owned by the AU library. If the library does not own the items that the professor would like to use, every effort will be made to purchase the recordings in a timely manner. The library will not digitize personal copies of recordings or commercially available anthologies. The digital audio files on Blackboard will be removed after the completion of the course or particular assignments in some cases.

Request Guidelines

  • Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to fill out the Digital Audio Reserves Request Form (one form per course).
  • Print the form out, sign it and make a copy for your records.
  • Drop the form off to Cene Ketcham at the Music Library in the Katzen Arts building. We recommend a minimum of 14 days for processing.

Tips for Using Audio for Classes

  • Most pieces in Norton Anthology can be found in Naxos Music Library Online. Anyone interested in creating their own playlists within the Naxos Music Library site or integrating some of the Naxos collection into the Blackboard site, should contact Nobue Matsuoka-Motley for the instructions.
  • It is a violation of the University’s Computer Use and Copyright Policy to upload or download unauthorized copyrighted materials. Posting downloadable mp3 files on Blackboard is not permitted.

See Computer Use and Copyright Policy.
