Hours and Location
Mission:
To maintain and provide access to American University Archives and American University Library's Special Collections.
Access:
Access to the collections is accorded to University faculty members, staff, students, and outside researchers. Research inquiries are taken in person, by telephone, by e-mail, or by mail. Appointments to conduct research are encouraged. Advance notice may be required for some resources.
Archives:
The Archives of American University chronicle more than one hundred years of the University's history. Collections include paper documents, films, videos, sound recordings, photographic images, and electronic files.
Special Collections:
The Special Collections of the American University Library include rare books, playbills and manuscripts.
University Publications:
Faculty, staff and student newspapers and newsletters.
Dissertations:
If you are a graduate student at American University, you must turn a copy of your dissertation or thesis in to Archives. Please consult the Guide to the Preparation of Theses and Dissertations for the formatting regulations.
